Request to digitize local records not found in the FamilySearch catalog
This document is for internal use only and should not be sent to patrons.
Instructions for Area Support

Handle phone calls as follows:

  1. For filming of U.S. records, direct the patron to send an e-mail to Dan@familysearch.org (Dan Peay).

  2. For international filming requests, direct the patron to send an e-mail to svthomas@familysearch.org (Stephanie Thomas).

  3. Let the patron know that he or she will be contacted by a representative of the acquisitions team for the region.

  4. Instruct the patron to include the following information in his or her e-mail request:

  • Type of records (tax records, vital records, etc.)

  • The location of the records

  • The patron contact information (name, phone number, e-mail address)

 

Handle AMDOCS requests as follows:

  1. Reply to the patron, telling him or her that his or her request has been sent to FamilySearch Field Services. Let the patron know that a representative of that group will be making contact with him or her.

  2. The patron should have included the following information in his or her e-mail. If he or she did not, please obtain this informaton before dispatching the case:

  • Type of records (tax records, vital records, etc.)

  • The location of the records

  • The patron contact information (name, phone number, e-mail address)

   3.  Category 1 = Research Assistance    Category 2 = Historical Records-- Collection Request

    4.  Dispatch the case to FHL--Rights and Acquisitions.

NOTE: For book scanning (biographies,​ autobiographies,​ histories, etc.), dispatch to Books Online queue
